As a parent of a Youth age player, and as a Vice President of Wilston Grange AFC, I guess I’m coming from 2 angles when I speak of Matt’s attributes as a mentor and coach. In fact it was his care, attention to detail, knowledge and ability to have a kid hang on every word at his sessions. That was the experience I had with my son, so it was a no brainer to seek Matt’s services for our great club at the Gorillas.
To be honest, our Football Department had ideas around building programs, focussing on player development for our Junior and Youth pathways, and indeed to mentor and develop our coaching staff. Since bringing Matt on board, he has met our expectations and given so much more. I don’t know where he finds the energy to be honest.
This season alone, we had a number of new coaches joining our ranks. Matt has embodied the club ethos and unconditionally supports, not only our new coaches, but all across the board.
The Gorillas would love to afford Matt’s services on a full time basis, but are extremely thankful for the tenure we have today.

The coaching and mentoring Matt has provided Jaxson and Sienna has been incredible. Not only with really specific skill development, where I have seen significant improvement.
